We are now in the Maffei Nymphaeum, a charming amphitheatre framed by waterfalls, water features, water lilies, and lotus flowers, all overshadowed by wisteria and roses. This place was especially dear to Scipione Maffei, a prominent figure in the family. A man of vast culture, Maffei was an archaeologist, writer, playwright, poet, and paleographer, with a deep interest in science and knowledge.

Among his works, the volumes of "Verona Illustrata" and the tragedy "Merope," which was translated into seven languages, stand out. Scipione also wrote the libretto for Antonio Vivaldi's "La Fida Ninfa" ("The Faithful Nymph"), an opera that premiered in 1732 at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona. Inside the villa, Maffei had created a small private theatre, where Vivaldi allegedly premiered this composition in front of a small group of spectators.
